Week #6 April 27-31, 2020

Hello Parents and students,

Last week we celebrated 50th aniversity of Earth Day. I encouraged the middle school students to make signs in Spanish and share in our zoom meeting.

Hello Parents,

Hope everyone had a restful Spring Break! Now back to remote learning, starting back with week #5

Before we start this week, I’m happy to say that your kiddos are doing an excellent job keeping up with spanish activities and lectures I post!  I know it is a big adjustment and can be very overwhelming to students and families having to keep up with all the classes.  I want your children to enjoy language in a fun and non stressful way.  When I assign worksheets, google docs or any kind of activity please just do your best and do what you can.  For middle school students, if you turn in an assignment late you will still have a full grade.  I will change your grade as soon as I see your assignment turned in.  I’m working hard to make spanish activities fun and easy to understand for at home learning. Week#4 April 6-7 Semana Santa (Holy Week)

Hello parents,

Hope everyone is staying healthy and following the guidelines with staying home. I sure miss seeing your kiddos!  If we continue to follow everything they are telling us to do we will soon have our lives back to normal. 

This week is Semana Santa (Holy Week) in Centro America. Where my familia is from we would stay home and my mom would make us torrejas con miel (to describe it, it’s like French toast made with a special sweet bread and syrup). Then we would make a beautiful Alfombras (rugs) for the procession.  These alfombras were made of color sawdust, colored sand, fresh pedals and other decorations.  It is a tradition to make Alfombras of sawdust for the processions to pass though your homes.  It is an honor that the procession comes through and steps on your elaborate alfombra. click here and watch the video of Semana Santa in Guatemala.https://youtu.be/xbWv2i8YKC8

ASSIGNMENT FOR K-5th grade this week: Due Thursday April 9th

This week I would like K-6th grade to make an ALFOMBRA for Semana Santa.  I would love to see each alfombra made by each of my students from Holy Rosary school.  I am hoping to zoom with each grade this week to see your beautiful Alfombras and share.

Instructions on how to make an ALfombra for Semana Santa (Holy Week)

2.) Use a piece of white paper if you have white cardstock paper best but white plain paper is fine.

3.) Think of how you want to design your Alfombra and start drawing and color with your choice of markers crayons colors pencils etc. Make sure your ALFOMBRA is colorful with bright colors.

4.) Wait for a Zoom invitation this week to share your alfombra with your classmates and Señora Brodahl I will share mine as well.

 

Assignment for 6th, 7th and 8th Grade: will be posted on google classroom it is the same assignment however will be posted in google classroom.
